Ciupke & Nik Haffner Subtitles Film Christina Ciupke lebt und arbeitet als Choreographin und Tänzerin in Berlin. Ihre Stücke verstehen sich als Untersuchungen zwischen Tanz und Bildender Kunst.. Ihre Produktionen wurden international gezeigt. Nik Haffner war zwischen 1994 und 2000 Tänzer bei William Forsythe im Ballett Frankfurt und realisiert jetzt als freischaffender Choreograf Bühnen, Film- und Installationsprorjekte. Er ist Mitglied der Gruppe "commerce" und Gastkünstler am ZKM (Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie). Lucy Cah is a performer, writer, sound-artist and film-maker based in London. She is an associate member of Goat Island performance group with whom she has made a ten minute film and two film installations. Produktion Der Film Subtitles basiert auf der Live-Performance Subtitles und wurde im März 2006 in Berlin gedreht. Er ist entstanden in Kollaboration mit der Filmemacherin Lucy Cash. Unbewusster Dialog: Sprache formt unsere Bewegungen. Unsere Bewegungen beeinflussen das gesprochene Wort. Doch der Zusammenhang ist komplex. Denn Körper und Sprache kommunizieren mit und durch Lücken, Übersetzungen, Verschiebungen. Eine heimliche, aber mächtige Interaktion, die das eigene selbst ebenso wie den Umgang mit anderen lenkt. Christina Ciupke und Nik Haffner überschreiten in ihren choreographischen Arbeiten die Grenzen zu anderen Disziplinen und Medien. 'Subtitles' ist ihr erstes gemeinsam entwickeltes Stück - eine tänzerische Erkundung der Wechselwirkung von Sprache und Bewegung. Wie verläuft die Kommunikation mit meinem Gesprächspartner? Wo liegen die Grenzen, wann beginnt Manipulation? Ein Film von Lucy Cash. Nik Haffner was dancer with William Forsythe in the Ballet Frankfurt from 1994 until 2000 and now produces stage, film and installation projects as a freelance choreographer. Production This film is based on the stage performance Subtitles and was shot in March 2006 in Berlin in collaboration with filmmaker Lucy Cash. Unconscious dialogue: language forms our movements. our movements influence the spoken word. but the context is complex: body and language communicate through and with vacancies, translations, shifts. a secret, but powerful interaction, which steers the own self as well as the interaction with the other. In their choreographic work christina ciupke and nik haffner transcend the boundaries to other disciplines and media. 'Subtitles' is the first piece developed together - an investigation of the interaction of language and movement through dance. how does communication run within a conversation? where are the boundaries, when does manipulation begin?
