Eine Kindheit vor dem Fernseher in Boston, dann nach New York, um Theater zu studieren. Vier Jahre an der New York University, Teile davon am Experimental Theatre Wing, Zeit mit The Wooster Group, Tim Miller, Yoshiko Chuma, Anne Bogart, dann ab nach Europa, nach Berlin für Performances (SHORTS, Lady Hamilton's Attitudes, Sex), Gastprojekte (Paternoster Trilogy, American Tragedy), Installationen und Texte fürs Theater (Stücke). Ihre nächste Produktion "My Ulysses" wird im Februar 2007 in den Sophiensaelen, Berlin Premiere haben. Ihr nächstes Stück "Mosquito Park" wird 2007 im Cornelsen Verlag erscheinen.

Produktion

Diese interaktive Installation ist der neuste Teil einer langfristig angelegen Serie der Künstlerin. Seit den 60iger Jahren gestaltet Annis diese multimedialen Performances und Dance-Environments in intimen, manchmal privaten Orten. Jede neue Arbeit führt frische Innovationen und Variationen ein, doch einige Kernelemente durchziehen die gesamte Reihe: das Essen des Kuchens, das Auspacken der Geschenke, das Singen, das Tanzen und Spiele spielen. Das Publikum ist bei all dem eingeladen teilzunehmen.

Arbeitsansatz

Das Autobiographische ist ein über die Jahre immer wiederkehrendes und prägendes Element in Lindy Annis` Arbeiten. Her next production "My Ulysses" will have its premier in February at the Sophiensaele in Berlin. Her next play, "Mosquito Park" will be available in 2007, Cornelsen Verlag.

Production

This interactive installation is the latest in a long-term, on-going series by the artist. Beginning in the 1960's, Annis has been creating these multi-medial performance and dance environments in intimate, sometimes private, settings. Each new work introduces fresh innovations and variations, but some core elements have been repeating through out the series: the eating of the cake, the unwrapping of presents, the singing, the dancing and the playing of games. The audience is invited to participate.

Approach to work

The autobiographical has been a recurring, even dominating theme in Annis' pieces through the years. "Although I often work with historical biographies - Emma Hamilton, Jackie Onasis, George Washington - in the end, it all comes back to Me.
