Lauwers & Needcompany, Brüssel Isabellas Room In englischer, flämischer und französischer Sprache mit deutscher Übertitelung HAU 1 | 14.16.12., jeweils 19:30 Uhr | 120 min The blind Isabella Morandi, beautifully portrayed by Viviane de Muynck, remembers the past 90 years of her long life. Figures from the memories of an old lady come alive: her foster father, who once told her she was the daughter of a desert prince, the mother who committed suicide at an early age, the lovers in her debauched past. She is even surrounded by embodiments of her thinking and feelings and by a gigantic collection of African antiques. Isabellas theater of recollection dances, sings and tells the story of a phantasmagorical biography, to which its author and director Jan Lauwers was inspired by a strange inheritance: his deceased father bequeathed to him an extensive assortment of collectors items from Africa. These relicts of colonial thought form the background for this highly successful piece.
