_ Biographical Information

Frauke Havemann co-founded the production team Detektor with the theatre director Mark Johnson in 1991. She has worked for Detektor as a dancer and choreographer. Productions were created which included elements of dance, video and acting. These were presented in German and international theatres and on international festivals, for instance on the Deutsche Tanzplattform Hamburg in 2000 and in Munich in 1998, as part of the International competition for choreography Groningen (final round), on Grenzgänge, Munich, on Steirischer Herbst, Graz; on Tanzsprache 1992, on Die Grammatik der Medien, Vienna and on Eurodanse, Mulhouse. Since 1995 she has been producing video works and dance projects. The latest productions such as "Imitation of - Imitation of" (in cooperation with film directors and choreographers from Berlin and New York) and "BRIDES uncensored" mix film- and video montage techniques with life performances. In 2000 she co-founded the production team ON AIR together with the video artist Eric Schefter from New York.
_ Approach to Work

ON AIR creates spatial situations out of live action and video projections. Stories are transferred into images and new montages are being created. The work of Frauke Havemann is shaped by her interdisciplinary interests. By mixing dance and film / video, body and moving image, text, speech and music with each other, she works with different systems of perception and examines the specific physical and mental dimensions of the different media.

_ Current Production

In "BRIDES uncensored" Frauke Havemann works with forms of absence. Left alone in an empty room a man works himself into a state of surreal illusions about the bride; movement, speech and image segregate to independent means for expression.
"Lizard's Lounge", a video- and space installation in cooperation with the Theater am Halleschen Ufer Berlin, deals with the perception of projected representations, possibly under the influence of alcohol.
_ Future Projects

May 2001, in parts by January 2001: "Am Rande der Dunkelheit" (provisional title) is located on the point of intersection between installation and live-performance. At the bar of an underwater-station the entertainer meets different creatures, each with a different relationship to the water world surrounding them and to their own substance (68% fluid).
