Riki von Falken
	_ Biographical Information Riki von Falken has been working as a dancer and choreographer in Berlin since 1981; she was a member of the Tanzfabrik Company and teaches contemporary dance at several schools. During her stays in New York City on scholarships, she came into contact with the work of Merce Cunningham, Trisha Brown, Jennifer Muller and Stephen Petronio, which gave her crucial impulses. In 1990 she began her solo work with "Die Haarausbreitende No.2" in the Kammermusiksaal of the Philharmonie; in 1991 the "Viereckige Stier" followed in the Akademie der Künste. "Ohrella", premiered in 1992 in the Hebbel-Theater, was invited to Budapest, Prague, London, Montreal and Burlington. In 1994 she showed "Lavandina", her first work accompanied by musicians, which she followed up on in 1996 with "Barreres" in the Hebbel-Theater. "White Linen" premiered in the Theater am Halleschen Ufer in March 2000 .
_ Approach to Work In her dance language Riki von Falken combines a sensual, moving quality of images and objects with inner conflicts. Her study of the fine arts and architecture influenced her earlier works in a crucial way, as is evident in "Barreres", for example where the Barrera becomes a metaphor for the dealing with personal barriers. In contrast "White Linen" shows a coming to terms with the unique experience of an overtaxed sense of perception. The inwardness of the piece is radical and the confrontation with life and death becomes noticeable; "... this piece has nothing to do with the personal or private, however. It is about diagonals and straight lines, which are drawn into the room, with clarity and decision and at the same time with fragility, which lets the movement appear as something which is floating, endangered from the first moment of its execution". _ Current Production "White Linen" A Solo Dance. Taking care of A. over a period of 180 days in a hospital sick-ward was the point of departure for the piece. Riki von Falken develops the memory of the halting and the simultaneous progression of time and thoughts: starting from a dance of the hands to the departure of the body to communication.	_ Future Projects New production in autumn 2001.
